Characteristic red qvevri wine made from Saperavi. Spicy with aromas of cherries and ripe blackberries. Juicy and robust on the palate, showing flavours of blackcurrants, blackberries and liquorice leaf. Powerful and expressive, yet highly approachable thanks to its fresh fruit and gentle tannins.
Georgia is considered the oldest wine-producing country in the world. For around 8,000 years, wine has been made here in qvevri: large clay vessels buried in the cellar floor. The grapes ferment together with their skins and seeds in these vessels. After fermentation, the qvevri is sealed and the wine rests for several months. The solids settle naturally to the bottom, allowing the wine to clarify without filtration. This ancient winemaking tradition is recognised by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage.
